You may have already read my review of the Koala Sofa and Ottoman that I posted last week. If you haven’t, make sure you do! This post is all about the next step to take after you have your brand new Koala sofa in your home (or any sofa really). It’s time to give it that extra bit of oomph to really make your room shine. Below are some quick and easy styling tips to help you create a room that is warm and welcoming.

Colour
The first thing you have to think about is the colour of your sofa. If you’re looking at the Koala sofas, they have two colour options – Brushtail Grey or Bonnie Doon Blue. My husband and I were umming and ahhing over which colour to choose. Our first thought was to go for the grey because we love how grey can be paired with any colour. But the thing is, we already have a lot of grey in our home. The Bonnie Doon Blue was calling to use and we actually have navy blue as a feature colour in our kitchen so that convinced us that the Bonnie Doon Blue was the way to go. And we are so happy with our choice!

The next step in your colour journey is to choose a pop of colour to feature on your sofa. There are a couple of ways you can do this. If you have a piece of artwork on your walls already, you can select a colour from there. Otherwise it’s really up to you. You can pick your favourite colour, go or with one that’s popular for the season.
A popular colour scheme at the moment is blush pink, and that complements the Bonnie Doon Blue perfectly. It’s a safe choice though and I thought it’d be more interesting to show something a bit different. That being the case, I’ve chosen a bright mustard yellow as my pop of colour. I’ve paired this with varying shades of blue. You really don’t need a lot of the colour you have chosen – I’ve only used one cushion and a throw that features the yellow. Less is definitely more and can make a greater impact visually.

Textures, Prints & Size
One of the easiest ways to add some interest to your sofa is to use cushions that have different textures. The yellow cushion I’ve selected has a lovely bobble texture. The prints on the cushions also add another dimension to your sofa. It can be hard to decide what will work, so it’s a matter of mixing and matching and moving cushions around till you find a combination that works. Use cushions of varying sizes and shapes – you’ll be surprised at the difference it makes to your sofa.
Comfort
Now above all, you don’t want style over comfort! Make sure you choose cushions and throws that you love the feel of. The Koala Sofa is made for sitting on and enjoyment. I personally hate scratchy fabrics so don’t feel like you need to use a cushion or throw just because it looks beautiful if you don’t like the way it feels.
Use the Ottoman as a Coffee Table
One of the quickest ways to change up the look of your room is to move the Ottoman and use it as a coffee table. I love the flexibility this provides as you can move it around depending on the number of guests you have and what you’re using the room for. When using the Ottoman as a coffee table, I would suggest placing a large tray in the centre to provide a more level surface so that coffees and drinks are not spilled! Add a touch of flowers (with a matching colour to your theme if you can) and you’re all set!

I hope the tips above have given you an idea of what you can do to style your Koala Sofa and Ottoman.
