The Laminated Cotton Shop – Re-usable Snack Bags

I love finding more sustainable options for everyday life and making small swaps to reduce my impact on the planet. One easy swap is to reduce the use of single use plastic wraps and sandwich bags for snacks by using re-usable snack bags instead. I was sent a Lunch Snack Bag Set from The Laminated Cotton Shop Co to try and it’s a great option!

What is Laminated Cotton?

Laminated Cotton is a soft and lightweight fabric that is water proof. There is a polyurethane laminate that is fused to the cotton. The laminated cottons used by The Laminated Cotton Shop are PVC free, BPA free , lead and phthalate free. They are also CPSIA compliant which is a standard fabrics should meet in the US to be child safe. And the best thing is that they can be easily washed!

The Lunch Snack Bag Set

I was sent the Lunch Snack Bag Set to try, which includes three Snack Bags in matching prints. There’s a variety of prints that you can choose from – my selection is the very sweet Raindrops fabric. Other options include whales, flowers, cats and more!

Each matching set includes:

1x small snack bag (approx. 10cmx10cm)

1x regular snack bag (approx. 11cm x 17cm)

1x sandwich size snack bag (approx. 15cm x 18cm)

The largest one is perfect for a sandwich, the medium one for crackers and the smallest one for nuts and dried fruit. The bags have a tight velcro closure, so while they’re not 100% airtight, my sandwich and crackers didn’t dry out during the day. I was actually quite surprised by how well it sealed. I wouldn’t put any juicy fruits inside them, unless I knew that the snack bag could stay upright in my bag.

Snacks galore!

Packing school lunches is also easy as the snack bags can go in the fridge or freezer. This means that if you like to be organised and pack lunches the night before, the Laminated Cotton Shop Lunch Snack Bag Set can be used.

Caring Instructions

I love that these can be washed in the top rack of the diswasher. I prefer to handwash them and drying is easy because they are rigid enough that they can stand on your dishrack easily to dry. I hate trying to wash soft pouches where the air can’t get inside the pouch for it to dry.

Look at how beautifully they stand up to dry!

Benefits of Using This Set

The most obvious benefit of using this set is of course ditching the single use plastic wrap and sandwich bags. There is enough plastic and waste in this world that if you can avoid using single use plastic, why wouldn’t you? It’s small steps and easy swaps like this that will add up! Purchasing this set is an investment so that you’re not constantly purchasing ziplock bags. Saving money is always a winner in my books.

Purchasing as a set also means that you have a size to suit whatever you need to pack. And if you have more than one child, you can easily by a different print for each child so you can quickly identify who’s lunch is in which bag.
